Nutrition is the study of how food and drink affects our bodies with a special regard to the essential nutrients necessary to support human health. It looks at the physiological and biochemical processes involved in nourishment and how substances in food provide energy or are converted into body tissues.
An ultrasound scan uses high-frequency sound waves to make an image of a persons internal body structures. Doctors commonly use ultrasound to study a developing fetus (unborn baby), a persons abdominal and pelvic organs, muscles and tendons, or their heart and blood vessels. Other names for an ultrasound scan include sonogram or (when imaging the heart) an echocardiogram.
